whomst is she?

Hi! My name is Preeti (pronounced Pree-Tee).  I’m Mauritian-Indian, born in London, UK, grew up speaking Creole and was raised in Toronto. As a result of this rich tapestry of passports, I am told I pronounce the word ‘yesterday’ in a funny way, but… I digress. The actual reason you’re probably here is because I’m an actor, screenwriter, comedian and filmmaker, represented by Grand Wave Management.

I started out at The Second City Toronto, performing improv and sketch comedy in 2012 and was cast in the inaugural Second City Bob Curry Fellowship, in 2015. From there I went on to perform stand-up at the SheDot Festival, NYC Asian Comedy Festival and the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, now streaming on CBC Gem and I continue to work with The Second City.

I have written for The Royal Canadian Air Farce (CBC), 2019 Winnipeg Comedy Festival and TallBoyz Season 3 (CBC).

My on screen credits include include ‘Wedding Season’ (Netflix), 'Note To Self' (CBC Comedy), ‘The Boys’ (Amazon Studios), 'Odd Squad' (PBS) and ‘Nine Films About Technology' (FXX/Hulu).

I directed my first comedic short ‘Where You From?’  along with two dance narrative short films, allowing my storytelling to be both in front and behind the camera.

I am currently writing and in development on my own one-hour scripted dramedy series entitled ‘Demons’ which placed as a Semi-Finalist for the 2021 Sundance Episodic Lab and is currently under mentorship in the 2022 E20 Reelworld Emerging Screenwriters program, for introduction to the Canadian market.

I am also directing a short film I wrote entitled ‘Bad Indian’ with development from the Ontario Arts Council, set for release in 2023.

And last but not least… I hope to become a clue on Jeopardy one day. So sick.
